Additional Notes

Apart from the inscription, this model is identical to the Westminster Abbey Coronation Chair and can similarly be found in three different forms: white glazed; white glazed, but with the stone beneath the seat coloured brown (as shown in the photograph); and brown unglazed. In this case, however, the brown version generally does not carry a coat of arms. The model was registered in 1911 but, unlike the Westinster Abbey Coronation Chair, it wasn’t listed in the 8th edition of The Goss Record, though it does mark the Perth Goss agent, R. A. & J. Hay, as having a special model and indeed the chair is shown in their advertisement there, though only the white version. The model does finally appear in the 9th edition, however, though strangely only the brown version is mentioned.
