Colchester Oyster Shell

The 8th and earlier editions of The Goss Record list the model as the Colchester oyster shell, and it is also featured in the 8th edition in an advertisement by Wm. Cheshire’s China Stores, the Colchester agent, all of which indicates that the matching arms should be Colchester. However, the model is listed in the 9th edition of The Goss Record as being specific to the Brightlingsea agent, a not unreasonable claim since the Colchester oyster beds are in fact situated at Brightlingsea. Both Colchester and Brightlingsea are therefore generally accepted as matching arms.
