The above inscription appears on the base, though not on all models. The model additionally carries the inscription “Model of the jug of William Shakespeare” on the side, Shakespeare’s name appearing as a facsimile of his signature and the remainder in Gothic script. All sizes are most commonly found bearing matching arms because they were only available from the Stratford on Avon agent for the majority of their production life. The largest size generally turns up bearing both matching arms together with the Arms of Queen Elizabeth, and was in fact specifically offered for sale in just this form in the Stratford on Avon agent’s advertisement in the 5th edition of The Goss Record.
